2015 Photo Book

Back/Front Cover
Since I recently shared with you my 2016 photo book, I thought I'd share my 2015 one as well. For being my first attempt at making a photo book, I think it turned out pretty well!

My Handy Man Dad

Obsessed with my picnic table!
Growing up, my dad could always fix everything. He was a full-time carpenter by trade, but his talents went way beyond just building things. If anything was broken around the house, he could fix it. If something was wrong with my car, he knew what it was (he even remodeled 1969 Camaro!). He somehow even found time to manage H&S Farms in his spare time. To say he did it all is an understatement.

Since retiring, Dad has picked up a new hobby in woodworking, which comes at the perfect time for a rustic farm wedding! While I have had him make me a few items for around the house including a mirror, picnic table, and a couple benches, he continues to impress me with all of the fun stuff he has been working on. Here's a peek at some of his recent projects. Most of which we plan to incorporate into our wedding decor.

How neat is this table?! Perfect height for a few bar stools.

He made this cool Scott Farm sign. I think I need a Haines one. :)

Not the best picture but these baskets will be perfect for the wedding!

Mom asked and Dad delivered. This table looks GREAT on their deck!

I seriously cannot wait until Michael and I have a house of our own to decorate someday. There is already a list of projects a mile long that I hope he will make for me.

P.S. Here is a picture of Dad's 1969 Camaro next to the 2011 that I used to own. Random fact - my very first car was a 1996 T-top Camaro. Clearly it's our favorite kind of car. :)

Wedding Update:: Part II

Last week I posted about everything that I have completed so far in the wedding planning process and boy was it a lot! Today, I'm sharing a list of incomplete items that are currently a work in progress. I'm sure there are a million other things that I forgot or haven't even thought about yet, but I'll keep you updated on those things as they pop up. So here it goes, all things currently on my radar:

  • Bridesmaid Dresses
    • In an unfortunate turn of events, I had to cancel the appointment we had to go bridesmaid dress shopping in January due to bad weather. We have rescheduled for March 4th and I am eager to see what we end up with!
  • Flowers
    • My mom is going to make the flowers for our centerpieces and decor, but we will use a florist for the wedding party's flowers. I am waiting to see exactly what color we end up with for bridesmaid dresses before getting my heart set on any floral arrangements.
  • Cake
    •  My mom's cousin makes wedding cakes so I believe we are going to ask her to make ours. I think we are going to go with several small cakes rather than one big one.
  • Wedding Website
    • I have started our wedding website and just need to put some final details on it before I share it with all of you!
  • Registries
    • Michael and I have started completing our wedding registries. We are going to be registered at Kohl's and Target. I contemplated Bed Bath & Beyond but really there isn't one close to either of our hometowns so I felt like Kohl's and Target would be better options.
  • Invitations/Programs
    • We have a general idea of what we would like our invitations to look like but still have a lot of research to do before starting on them.
  • Reception Decor
    • Honestly, I'm letting my mom take the reigns on the majority of the decor. She is so creative and has such great style that I know it will be absolutely perfect. I'll share some of her ideas with you in a later post.
  • Tuxes
    • I think I want to go with navy tuxes for the guys but still need to figure out where to get them from and get an appointment set up to go actually look at them.
  • Ceremony Musicians
    • We have made no progress on this. Neither of us have any friends or family who are singers, so we still have to figure out what direction we want to take as far as the ceremony music goes.
  • Bachelor/Bachelorette Parties
    • Michael's bachelor party plans are still up in the air, but us girls are going to the Lake of the Ozarks in September and I cannot wait!
  • Honeymoon
    • Jamaica is looking like it might be our honeymoon destination but we are still in the negotiation phases.

2016 Photo Book

Back/Front Cover
In 2015 I started making photo books to document all the fun we have throughout the year. I really love looking back at all of our memories and thought I would share with you how my 2016 book turned out! It was such a great year full of so many great memories. I know 2017 has even more happiness in store for us and I cannot wait to share it with all of you!

2017 Weekly Bits:: II

Copper Mountain - Colorado

Booked:: Snowmobile and Lift Tickets
  • We leave for our ski trip next Wednesday and I AM SO EXCITED!! This week, we booked our snowmobiling adventure and our lift tickets for our three days of skiing. We are staying in Frisco, CO which is super close to several ski resorts. Originally, we had planned on skiing at Breckenridge, however, Copper Mountain is actually closer to our condo and significantly cheaper, so we purchased our lift tickets there instead of Breckenridge.
Packed:: Ski Trip
  • I have a lot to do this weekend in preparation for our trip next week, so I started getting everything together that we will need. I think we have pretty much everything we need, but I do have a few last minute errands to run this weekend. We do have our ski pants, coats, gloves, and goggles, so we are almost set!
Reserved:: Hotel for Sister's Trip
  • My sister and I are taking our second sister's trip in April (for our first trip we went to Washington D.C. and it was a blast). We are heading to San Francisco for a few days. I've been researching where we should stay and this week we booked a neat hotel near Fisherman's Wharf and Pier 39. It looks like such a cool hotel and is walking distance to several touristy places. So far the only thing on our agenda is the Alcatraz Island Night Tour. It's going to be such a fun trip!
Stressed:: Work
  • Work has been so busy lately with year-end reporting and all kinds of other things that have popped up over the past month or so. I have a list a mile long of things I need to get done before I leave next Tuesday and unfortunately, I think it is going to require me to come in to the office this weekend to get it all accomplished.

Wedding Update: Part I

Somehow it's already February and our wedding is just 8 short months away! As much as I wish it was sooner, I know it will be here before I know it. My mom and I have been busy bee's when it comes to wedding planning, and I have a lot of updates to share with all of you!
  • Church
    • St. Michael's Catholic Church - This is the church I grew up attending in my hometown. I'm so happy that I get to get married in such a beautiful and modern Catholic Church.
  • Reception
    • Scott Farm - This one was easy! We will be having our reception on my parent's farm and I am seriously SO excited about this part of the wedding. My mom and I have talked about having my wedding reception at their house for years, so for it to really be happening is such a dream come true.
  • Photographer
    • Laura Ann Miller Photography takes such beautiful pictures and I am thrilled to have her photograph our wedding. I swear all of her photos look like they belong in a magazine so I cannot wait to see how she captures our special day.
  • Engagement Photos
    • In case you missed it, I posted some of our engagement photos back in December. I love how they turned out!
  • Dress
    • I FOUND A DRESS!! My mom, sister, grandma, and I went dress shopping back in November just to browse and get an idea of what I liked. I had no intentions of buying a dress that day, but I ended up falling in love with the very first dress I tried on. I tried on probably 10 other dresses that day but none of them spoke to me like that first dress. It is from a small, family owned boutique in Tipton called Dala's Bridal and I cannot say enough great things about this little bridal shop. They were seriously so great and had so many beautiful options. I intend to get the bridesmaid dresses from there as well.
  • Rehearsal Dinner
    • Ria's Resturaunt and Lounge - My mom actually recommended we look into Ria's for our rehearsal dinner (they have the best pizza!), and I am glad that I listened. They have a cute little back room where we can have our dinner, OR, weather permitting, we can have it on their large outdoor patio! I'm currently working with my future mother-in-law on narrowing down the menu. The owner recommended only offering 3 options to the guests rather than the full menu to help simplify the dinner, so I think we will go that route.
  • Hotel
    • The closest hotels to my hometown are in Jefferson City so that is where I ended up blocking off some rooms for our guests. The Best Western Plus Capital Inn is the perfect location for out of town guests.  As an added bonus, they didn't charge any fees to reserve a block of rooms for our wedding weekend so I couldn't say no to that kind of deal.
  • Bus
    • You wouldn't believe how hard it was to find a bus that wasn't already booked. But eventually I did find one! We rented the party bus from White Knight for our day. I intend to use it not only for the wedding party but also as a shuttle for guests to and from the hotel.
  • DJ
    • Live Events Missouri is going to be our dj for the reception. So far they have been so easy to work with and their prices are great!
  • Salon
    • All of us girls will be getting our hair and makeup done at Marshall & Company the morning of the wedding. It's such a cute little salon and they are even providing the mimosas and breakfast treats!
  • Caterer/Tent/Trailer Restroom
    • My mom and I attended an open house for Reinhardt Circle a couple weekends ago where we got to see everything they had to offer and do a food tasting. Of course the food was delicious and they had everything we needed from food, to tables/chairs, to a tent and even a trailer restroom. I told my mom we would not have port-a-potties at our reception so we got the next best thing, a restroom trailer. Who knew those even existed?! It has two restrooms with running water so we should be set between that and the two restrooms in my parents house.
  • Save Our Date
    • My friend, Tom, made the Save Our Dates for us and I am in love with how they turned out! I ordered them from mpix and they shipped SO quick. They are actually being delivered today so I can't wait to see the final product.
  • Wedding Party
    • We have chosen our wedding party (check out my gorgeous bridesmaids!)and we are ready to PARTY! I am seriously so thrilled with the group we will have helping us celebrate. October 7th cannot get here soon enough!
Whoa! That is a lot of information, but we have been doing a lot of planning! There is still so much to do, so stay tuned for more updates and inspiration posts!

My Bridesmaids

This past fall, Michael and I decided who we would like our bridesmaids and groomsmen to be. We decided to have seven of each (although he easily could have had at least ten). Once we narrowed down the list, I was eager to ask my ladies to be a part of our special day.

I ended up getting these hangers and included a personalized message in these cute cards for each of the girls. See the final product below!
  • Maid of Honor:: Danielle (sister)
  • Bridesmaid:: Rachel (cousin)
  • Bridesmaid:: Anna (cousin)
  • Bridesmaid:: Heather (friend)
  • Bridesmaid:: Emily (friend)
  • Bridesmaid:: Jessica (friend)
  • Bridesmaid:: Abbey (friend)
  • Flower Girl:: Sophia (Emily's daughter)

Save Our Date

My friend Tom is the most creative person I know, so of course I asked him to design our save the dates. I am in love with the outcome!

I love the simplicity of it and that the barn picture is a peek of what guests will see at the reception. I can't wait to get them in the mail!
