Our Honeymoon in Jamaica

We had the absolute best time on our honeymoon in Negril, Jamaica. As I had previously mentioned, our best friends got married earlier this year and waited to go on their honeymoon so that we could all go together. Not going to lie, at first I was a little hesitant about this, but now that it's all said and done, I am so glad that we decided to make it a "friendsmoon". We had plenty of our alone time but it was nice to also have friends to enjoy all the activities with!

Here's a recap of our trip and I'm warning you now, it's going to be a long post!

2018 Trips

With 2017 coming to an end, I've been looking ahead to 2018 a lot lately. Let me tell you, it is going to be such a fun year! Four of my closest friends are getting married next year, and I have several trips on my agenda already. It's going to be another busy year, but I cannot wait to get 2018 started!

  • Charleston
    • My girlfriend and I planned a trip to Charleston in March a few months back. We have been talking about taking a trip together forever and early 2018 seemed like the right time to make it happen. We're eager to start working on an agenda for our little get away. It'll be here before we know it!
  • Florida
    • Michael's parent's Christmas gift to us is a family trip to Florida in July. His mom has rented a house with a pool for a week which sounds absolutely amazing! I am looking forward to a nice vacation with the family.
  • Nashville
    • My girlfriend, MaKenzie, is having her bachelorette party in Nashville in early September. I have attended a Nashville bachelorette party before and had a blast so I know this one is going to be so much fun!
  • Charleston
    • My cousin, Rachel, is having her bachelorette party in Charleston sometime next fall. The details are still being worked out, but I plan to be a Charleston pro by the end of 2018!
  • Washington D.C.
    • Rachel and her fiance live in Washington D.C. so that is where they will be getting married. They plan to have a small ceremony and reception at a local restaurant called Smith Public Trust. It sounds like it will be such a unique and fun wedding.

Photo Booth Fun!

I clearly can't say enough good things about Laura Ann Miller Photography, because I'm about to rave about her again. Laura offers a photo booth option with her packages, and I really LOVE photo booths, so it was an easy decision to book it for our wedding. Laura's team set up the photo booth and had it open during our cocktail hour and after dinner. It was such a big hit with our guests!

A few favorites from the photo booth at our wedding:

Our Wedding Video

When I first started wedding planning, I had no intentions of hiring someone to film our day. I knew that it was a popular wedding trend to have a videographer, but everything was so expensive already, and it seemed like an unnecessary expense. After all, wasn't that what we were paying our photographer for? To capture those special moments?

Fast forward to a couple months before the wedding and our photographer, Laura Ann Miller, announced that they were now offering a cinema package to all of their clients. This made me rethink everything when it came to hiring someone to film our day. Laura and her team were already going to be at the wedding so it made sense to have them go ahead and just film the day, too, right? Ultimately, I decided it was worth the extra funds and booked their cinema package. And that was the best decision I have ever made.

Our highlight video is absolutely perfect. Laura's husband, Dominic, did such an unbelievable job of capturing all of the special moments. I cannot wait to get the rest of the footage back because I know it is going to be something we cherish for the rest of our lives.

Oktoberfest - Hermann, MO

A couple weekends ago, Michael and I joined our pals at the winery to celebrate one of his friend's mom's 50th birthday. We hopped on a bus around 10:30 in the morning and sipped mimosa's (beer for Michael) as we headed to Hermann, MO. We planned to stop at a couple different wineries, but we had so much fun at OakGlenn Winery that stayed until closing time!

MO Cowbell 5K

Back in January, I made a goal to run at least 3 races in 2017. As of the end of September, I had completed exactly zero percent of that goal. Luckily one of my girlfriends came to me wanting to run her first 5K at the beginning of October and I eagerly signed up with her two weeks before the race. Not only did I need to work on my goal, but it was a great way to kick off our wedding week!

I haven't really been running a whole lot this year, but I have been working out regularly. I joined Rhino Hybrid back in the spring and have stayed pretty dedicated to their small group, survival cycle, and title boxing classes ever since. My girlfriend who ran the 5K with me has also been going to the classes, but has never really ran in her life. Our goal was to run the first mile and then walk whenever we needed to after that. To our surprise, we both had no problem running the entire 3.1 miles! I was so proud of her for not only completing her first 5K but for running the entire thing with little preparation. Guess those fitness classes are doing their job!

We signed up for a 10K trail race this weekend. Once again, we signed up only two weeks before the race, giving us little time to prepare. We'll see how it goes!

My girlfriend, MaKenzie, asked me to be a bridesmaid in her wedding next fall and I could not be more honored or excited! She is going to be the most gorgeous bride and I love that I get to stand by her side as she marries her best friend.

MaKenzie and I met through our guys a couple years ago and immediately hit it off. She is so sweet and so much fun to be around. I'm so thankful that our crazy boys brought us together and look forward to all of the fun that the future holds for us!

P.S. Our Colorado Ski Trip we took with the soon-to-be Mudds earlier this year was one for the books!

Tuesday Thoughts

The past few weeks have felt like my very own fairy tale and I feel so fortunate to live such a beautiful life. If you had asked me back in college where I thought I would be in 5-10 years, I don't think I would have never answered "living in a small farmhouse, in a little town that nobody has ever heard of, surrounded by love, and eager to start a family with my husband", but that is exactly where I am at. And I wouldn't want to be anywhere else, with anyone else.

This stage of life truly is beautiful. I'm learning so much about myself, and my husband (it's so fun to call him my husband). We are figuring things out together. Things aren't perfect, but they aren't supposed to be. We're just trying to do what we can to live out our dream. A dream that includes someday owning land in our little town, building our forever home, and having a couple kids running around and making a mess in that home.

Someday, everything will come together. Today, I am so grateful for everything and everyone that God has blessed me with in this perfectly imperfect life.

Sneak Peek!

I received our sneak peek from our photographer today and I couldn't wait to share them! It's not often that I go an entire day without my phone in hand, but our wedding day was one of those days and I ended up with zero good pictures of Michael and myself. I've been patiently waiting to get a peek at some of the pictures from our day and Laura did not disappoint! I can't wait to see the rest of the photos and the video that her and her team captured.

Eight More Days!

I get married in 8 short days! It's finally hitting me that it's really happening. I even had my first wedding meltdown earlier this week. Luckily, everything got sorted out and as long as the rain holds off next Saturday, everything should be perfect!

I expect the next 8 days to be completely hectic so I probably won't have any more blog posts until we return from our honeymoon. I'm going to do my best to post about all of the details this fall though! In the meantime, check out our hashtag #ohhappyhaines for some pictures of all the festivities.

Cheers to new beginnings!

My Bachelorette Party:: Lake of the Ozarks

My gals did such an AMAZING job planning a fun bachelorette party for me! We rented a condo and boat at the Lake of the Ozarks a couple of weekends ago and had so much fun! Every little detail was absolutely perfect and I had the best time with all of my favorite girlfriends.

Here's a breakdown of our weekend (fair warning - I'm about to share A LOT of pictures!):

Last Birthday in my 20s

Last Friday was my 29th birthday! With all the wedding festivities (and expenses) we kept the celebration pretty low key. I had a few sweet surprises from my friends and co-workers, Michael took me to play golf and to dinner, then we capped the night off with a side-by-side ride and hanging out with friends. It was a fun start to my 29th year and to the holiday weekend. I'm one pretty lucky gal.

She Shed Update

Last week, I posted about the she shed that my dad is making for my mom in the front half of one of his new sheds on the farm. The room is coming together so quickly and man is it cool! Seriously, how cute is this little shed? It sure is setting the bar high for all future she sheds!

I wanted to post an update because he finished the light he was making out of an old hay lift and I am obsessed with how it turned out! Mom said that he didn't make it exactly the way she envisioned but thinks it looks awesome, and I definitely agree. Between the two of them, they are bringing some pretty amazing ideas to life.

I still think they need a little shop to sell some of their neat little projects. Between mom's crafts and dad's wood working and carpentry skills, I think they'd have a lot of success! Stay tuned for more projects from the Scott Farm.

Bridal Shower Recommendations

Now that I've attended three, yes THREE bridal showers, I feel like a professional. Since our families live a couple hours apart and my friends are all over the place, it just made sense to have separate bridal showers so that nobody had to travel hours to attend. Initially this felt selfish, but now that they are all over, I am so glad we took this route over one large shower. Each one felt intimate and I really got to enjoy every single person who attended. I left each shower feeling so loved and thankful for the wonderful women in my life. Here are a few of my recommendations based on my shower experiences:

Gavin's 4th Birthday Party

Last Sunday, Michael and I attended my nephew's 4th birthday party. I can't believe he is already 4 years old! Time sure does fly. He had the best time hanging out with his friends, eating pizza, and opening gifts.

I love how good of a big brother he is to Garett. He's so sweet and always looking out for him. Garett sure is sweet, too. He's always down for a good snuggle! The amount of love I have for both of these boys is indescribable. I know they love their Aunt E, too. :)

Wedding Registries

Michael and I live in a very small farmhouse which doesn't have a ton cabinet or storage space so we had to be pretty selective when it came to registering for wedding gifts. Since we have both lived on our own for several years now, we have already accumulated a lot of the traditional wedding gift items such as pots/pans and kitchen utensils. Ultimately, we did decide to go ahead an register for a few nicer kitchen supplies as well as some decor and yard games (we love yard games!). Below are a few of our favorite and most useful gifts that were given to us at bridal showers.

Mom's She Shed

My Dad is a carpenter by trade and recently built a shed for his tractor. He was nice enough to incorporate a "she shed" for my mom in the front half of it. She always has projects that she's working on and wanted a designated space for the clutter that comes along with all of the crafts.

I'm so impressed with how it's coming a long! He lined all the walls with tin, made the coolest barn doors out of old tin and wood from the smoke house he recently tore down, and is currently working on making a hanging light from an old hay trolley. It's still a work in progress but here's a peek inside:

We're going to use this space for the cake and gifts at the wedding and I cannot wait to see how awesome it is going to look!

A couple weeks ago, a group of eight of us went to the Lake of the Ozarks for our second annual couples weekend! Six of us went last year and had so much fun that we decided it needed to be an annual trip. This year we added a couple more friends, and many more laughs!

After work, four of us hopped in the car and off to the Lake we went. Once we got there, we checked into our condo and then went to grab some dinner at Frankie and Louie's. After the rest of the group arrived, we ended our evening on the condo patio sipping a couple drinks, playing games, and enjoying each other's company.

Surprise Birthday Party

Last night I attended a surprise 30th birthday party for one of my best gal pals. She lives in Rochester, IL so Jess and I, along with our guys, packed up for a little road trip after work so that we could be there for the big surprise. It was a fun, casual little party and I'm so glad that we were able to be a part of it.

When deciding what to wear to the party, I knew I wanted to incorporate the lace-up tee that I purchased during the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale. Any shirt that is as comfortable as this one and still looks cute is a winner in my book!

Yesterday was the Great American Solar Eclipse of 2017! My work is located right on the edge of the path of totality so we were able to see the eclipse in full effect for about a minute. Definitely an awesome experience!

Bridal Shower #3

My girlfriends hosted a beautiful bridal shower for me at Unkorked Wine Garden in Wentzville a couple Sundays ago and it was so much fun! It's not often all of my best gal pals are in the same place at the same time so it was extra special to have everyone together for a little celebration of our upcoming wedding.

The girls killed it with the decorations! Sunflowers, framed quotes from Michael, and the most delicious cake pops (made by Abbey) were a few of my favorites. Those things mixed with great company and good wine make for a wonderful afternoon!

Our Guest Book

If you look up "wedding guest book" on Pinterest, you will find a million adorable ideas of things for your wedding guests sign. From pictures, to bibles, to wine corks...there are so many unique ideas out there! I'm pretty indecisive so naturally, I had a hard time deciding which route to take when it came to gathering all of our guests signatures. I'm a big fan of anything unique when it comes to weddings, but also love the idea of actually having a book full of our friends and family members well wishes on our big day.

After much browsing, I ultimately decided that I wanted to create a book using our engagement photos for everyone to sign. Typically, I order my photo books from Shutterfly, but I was looking for a little higher quality on this one so I figured I'd give Artifact Uprising a try. While it was more expensive, it seriously turned out SO good and I definitely recommend it to anyone who is looking for a high quality photo book. I'm really excited for our guests to fill it up with lots of advice, love, and well wishes! Here's a sneak peek:

Etsy Wedding Purchases

Etsy has been the most fun website to browse for fun wedding items! I wanted to share with you a few of the items that I have actually purchased. I have been so impressed with the quality of everything that we have received and recommend all of these shops!

  • When it came to wedding koozies, I had a hard time deciding where to buy from. There are literally hundreds of options! I received quotes from a couple "corporate" places and was highly disappointed in their customer service. While the pricing was cheaper than the quotes I received from a few Etsy shops, I ultimately decided that I would rather pay a little more and support a small business than give my business to someone who clearly didn't care if I made a purchase or not. I ended up purchasing from Draft House, and the koozies turned out even better than I expected! Shannon was so easy to work with and helped ensure that my design would print well. I highly recommend her for any of your koozie needs!

Bridal Shower #2

Michael's family hosted a bridal shower for me a couple weekends ago and we had such a wonderful time. His family is so great. I seriously could not have picked a better family to be married into. They are so sweet and thoughtful and I am so grateful to that soon I get to call them my family, too.

The shower was held at his cousin, Teresa's house, which is so gorgeous! They had the cutest little cake and delicious cake pops along with such adorable pieces of decor personalized to Michael and me. My mom, sister, and grandma were able to come as well, which I loved.

Wedding Dress Shopping

Back at the end of 2016, I went wedding dress shopping with the intent to just look and see what styles I liked. My mom, sister, and grandma went with me to assist with what I thought would be a long process. I am so indecisive and had no idea what I wanted when it came to a wedding dress so I was sure that it would take several trips to find "the one".

We started our day at Dala's Bridal Boutique. This is where my sister and several other family members found their wedding dresses so I knew it would be a great starting point. I told Dala (the owner) that I really wasn't sure what I was looking for but I thought I didn't want strapless or poofy. She started pulling out wedding dresses and before I knew it I had several ready to try on.

August Lineup

Lots of fun stuff happening in August for us. Plus it means we're one month closer to our wedding!

Bridal Shower
  • My girlfriend's are hosting a bridal shower for me at UnKorked Wine Garden on Sunday. I can't wait to sip some wine, mingle with great friends, and celebrate our upcoming wedding!

Wedding Update: Part IV

Only 65 more days until our wedding!! The past couple months have been pretty uneventful as far as wedding planning goes. We're kind of just waiting for the week of so we can start making all of our decor ideas come to life but I do have a few updates to share:
  • Tuxes
    • We picked out tuxes! The little shop we are getting them from even ordered a sample for Michael to try on so I could make sure that I liked it. I'm excited to see how they look with the bridesmaid dresses.
  • Invitations
    • Invitations are in the mail! My mom made ALL of about impressive. I love how they turned out!
  • Pizza Truck
    • We got a pizza truck! Manzo's Wood-Fired Pizza truck is going to make an appearance at the end of our reception and I am SO excited about it.
  • Alcohol
    • Alcohol has been ordered. And gosh there's a lot of it! We had a hard time deciding how much beer/liquor to get so we decided that it was better to have too much than not enough. Luckily, my dad knows someone who works for a liquor distributor so they are hooking us up with a discount.
  • Wedding Bands
    • Michael's wedding band came in last week. He had my ring and band designed at Randy's Jewelry and they were so helpful that I decided to get his band through them as well. It turned out great!
  • Dress Fitting
    • I had my first dress fitting a few weeks ago and it went well. They had to alter a lot in the bust but the rest pretty much fit perfectly. Since my hair and makeup trials are this Saturday, we figured it'd be a perfect time to schedule my second dress fitting as well. It'll be fun to see how the look comes together!
  • Bridal Party Gifts
    • My bridesmaid gifts have been purchased and Michael has an idea for the groomsmen as well. I'm glad to have that one checked off the list.
  • Outdoor Lights
    • Michael's had their outdoor lights on sale so I bought a bunch of these lights. They're so fun and perfect for an outdoor reception. I'm so eager to see how the reception decor turns out.
Stay tuned for updates on Etsy purchases, bridal showers, and other fun wedding stuff!

Bridal Shower #1

My sister and grandma hosted the sweetest bridal shower for me back at the beginning of July. It was the most perfect day spent with a group of amazing ladies.

My sister opened her beautiful home to our family for the shower and had it looking so cute! We mingled, ate snacks, opened gifts, and even played a few games. I had the best time and am so thankful to have such a wonderful family. Talk about a full heart.

July Lineup

July is shaping up to be such a fun month! Here's a peek at what I have going on:
  • Family 4th of July Party
    • My parents host a 4th of July party every year and this year is no exception! A bunch of our friends and family get together for backyard BBQ and some fireworks. It is always a good time and I am really looking forward to it.
  • Bridal Showers
    • I'm fortunate enough to have TWO bridal showers in July! Both my family and Michael's family are hosting showers and I am so thankful for how amazing both of our families are! I keep waiting for the wedding to feel real. Up to this point, it still hasn't really hit me that I'm actually getting married. Maybe these showers will do the trick!
  • Cardinals Game
    • We'll be attending our first Cards game of the season in a couple weeks. We're making it a "couples outing" with some of our friends and it's bound to be a good time!
  • Wedding Dress Fitting
    • Guys, my first dress fitting is almost here! While we've made it to double digits on the count down (99 days to go!), the wedding still feels so far way. I guess the fact that I'm having a dress fitting means that it's really not too far off!
  • Lincoln County Fair
    • Diamond Rio and Sawyer Brown are performing at the Lincoln County Fair this year. A couple of my friends from home will be in attendance along with several other friends from the area so I can't wait for some good ole country fun!
  • Jason Aldean Concert
    • My love for Jason is REAL. I've seen him in concert four times already and am never disappointed. We have pit passes for the concert this year, so his concert should be a whole new experience!

Wedding Update:: Part III

Hi there! It's been a while, but I wanted to pop back in to share some wedding updates. So here we go:

We met with the florist and I have picked out all the flowers for the wedding! We decided to only get real flowers for the wedding party and then my mom is going to make our center pieces and decor on her own. Hopefully we can save a little money this way. Here's my inspiration picture!

Our bridesmaid dresses came in and I am in LOVE with them! I was slightly nervous about the color since I only saw a small sample of it and not the actual dress in that color, but it's beautiful. All the girls are going to look gorgeous! I can't find a picture of the exact dress but it's very similar to this one:

How cute is this lace dress by DLilesCollection? We decided it will look adorable on our little flower girl!

Last but not least, we have our cake situation figured out! A while back I mentioned wanting to do several small cakes instead of one large cake and that is exactly what we are doing. There will be 10-12 different styles and sizes of cakes on our cake table. Here are a few examples that we liked from our cake baker (who also happens to be my mom's cousin):

Sister Trip to San Francisco

Last week my sister and I packed up and headed to San Francisco for our second sister trip. About a year and a half ago, we went to Washington D.C. together and explored the city and visited with our cousin. We had such a great time together that we vowed to go on sister trips as often as we could. Dani has always wanted to visit Alcatraz, so we decided San Francisco was the perfect destination for us to continue the tradition. We were only there for a few days, but we sure made the most of our time!

May Lineup

  • VIP Day
    • My nephew got to pick one person to bring to his VIP day at school, and he picked me! Of course, I couldn't say no to that so I took the day off work to spend with him. We'll get to have breakfast at his school and do some fun crafts together. I'm really looking forward to it!
  • Engaged Encounter
    • This is one of the final tasks Michael and I have to complete before getting married in the Catholic Church. We will be spending a weekend with other couples who are also preparing to get married in the Catholic faith in hopes of strengthening our relationship and core values. While I'm not necessarily looking forward to an entire weekend of presentations, I know it will be a good experience for us in the end.
  • Eric Church
    • A couple girlfriends and I will be heading to see Eric Church in St. Louis and I am so excited! Not only do I love a good country concert, but I am also really looking forward to seeing Eric live for the first time. I've heard he's one hell of a performer!
  • Mother's Day
    • I hope to head to my hometown to spend Mother's Day with my momma and sister. I can't get enough family time these days!

April Lineup

A little late here, but April is shaping up to be a pretty awesome month! Here's what I've been up to and a peek at my upcoming weeks:
  • #MuddMadness
    • As I mentioned last week, one of my best gal pals got married on April Fool's Day and it was so perfect! We had the best time. You can see some pictures and read more about it here
  • Easter
    • Michael and I plan to head to my parent's house this Saturday to spend the day with them and my sister, brother-in-law, and nephews. The weather is looking beautiful, so I hope we get to do lots of Easter egg hunting with my nephews. Sunday, we plan to spend the day with Michael's family. Doesn't get much better than a weekend full of family!
  • San Francisco
    • My sister and I will be heading to San Francisco later this month for our 2nd Sister's Trip! Back in late 2015, we took our first sister's trip to Washington D.C. and had so much fun that we decided to make it a tradition! Visiting Alcatraz has always been on my sister's bucket list, so we decided San Francisco would be the perfect place to visit next. I can't wait for some quality sister time!

I booked our honeymoon this past weekend!! In exactly SIX months, I get to marry my very best friend! I seriously cannot wait for October to get here. Shortly after, we will be heading to Negril, Jamaica for our honeymoon!

We decided to make it more of a "friendsmoon" and invite two of our best couple friends to come along with us. It took me a little while to come around on this idea, but now that I have, I can hardly contain my excitement! Michael and I have done the solo beach trip before, but haven't had the opportunity to go on an all-inclusive group trip with our best friends. There isn't anyone better to help us celebrate and I'm sure it will be an epic trip!

Is it October yet?!

An April Fool's Day Wedding:: #MuddMadness

Just a bride and her maids.

Michael and I were lucky enough to spend this past weekend celebrating the marriage of two of our very best friends. Emily and Bradley finally tied the knot on Saturday and their big day was SO perfect! I couldn't be more honored to have been a part of it.

My handsome date.

I met Emily in college. We joined the same sorority and while we didn't become BFFs right away, our friendship really blossomed once we moved off campus and lived together with several of our girlfriends. We quickly became inseparable and had the best time living up that single, college life. We shared a name, a couple houses, friends, clothes, drunken stories, laughs, tears, and so many great memories. Seems crazy to think that here we are so many years later getting to marry two awesome guys who happen to also be best friends!

The STUNNING bride!

I took the day off work Friday to help decorate the hall for their special day. I wish I would have taken some pictures of the decor because I loved how everything turned out. It was rustic, simple, and beautiful. Friday night, we headed to the rehearsal at Cuivre River Park and then had dinner catered at the KC hall in Millwood. My girlfriend, Kara, who was also a bridesmaid, spent the night with us so that she didn't have to drive all the way back to St. Louis. We enjoyed a great dinner, great company, and a few drinks before heading home to rest up for a full day of fun.

Soon to be Mr. & Mrs.

Saturday we woke up bright and early to shower and then go get our hair and makeup done. As luck would have it, there was a slight hiccup in our morning plans as the power at our house went out. Luckily we live close to Michael's parents and they were kind enough to let us use their shower. We spent the morning hanging out getting our hair and makeup done. The bride looked SO beautiful. One of our friends commented that she looked like a barbie doll bride, and I could not agree more! After hair and makeup, we hopped on the party bus and headed to the hall to pick up the guys.

Almost ready!
The sweetest flower girl in all the land.
Starting off with a shot of fireball.
Party bus pics. Love this girl!
Thankful all of our guys are friends!

Emily and Bradley took their first look pictures and then we were off to the park to take some group pictures. The ceremony was outside under a large gazebo. Everything was so gorgeous. The weather was perfect. Considering it rained literally every day last week except Saturday for their wedding, I'd say they really lucked out!

Loved our flowers!
Love this guy!
A couple of my favorite gals.
"Please just take one more picture with me!" - "We've already taken hundreds!"
Last one. :)

After the ceremony, we popped into the local bar before heading back to the hall for a night full of laughs, photo boothing, and a lot of dancing! I can only hope that our wedding is half as fun as theirs was!

Cheers to you, Mr. & Mrs. Mudd!!
