Weekend Recap:: Friends and Family

This past weekend was pretty perfect. It was packed full of activities with so many of my favorite people!

My best friend from my hometown came to visit me for the weekend, so I took a half day at work and we spent the afternoon shopping and running errands. Later, we went for a long walk down the gravel road by my house, and then made chili for dinner.

After dinner, we watched Magic Mike XXL and she taught me how to crochet. She has been crocheting for years and is SO good at it. I am doing my best to try and make a scarf for my first project. There are a lot of imperfections, but I think it is going to turn out pretty decent for being my first ever attempt!

We woke up bright and early and headed to Castlewood State Park to participate in the Skippo 10K Trail Race. It was quite the adventure, so stay tuned for more on that later!

After we got back home and relaxed for a bit, we headed to Jess' house for a bonfire. We sipped on beers, ate some delicious food, and enjoyed the company of her friends and family. It was a perfect fall evening.

Michael and I headed to my hometown on Sunday morning to celebrate my aunt and uncle's 50th wedding anniversary. We arrived around 11, and I immediately headed to my sister's house to see my nephew. I haven't seen him since our family vacation, and that is just way too long! He wasn't feeling well (poor guy had double ear infections) so he was especially cuddly and I soaked it up.

Later, we headed to dinner at a local restaurant and mingled with my dad's side of the family. My aunt and uncle that we visited in Georgia were in town, too, so we almost had the whole gang there. It was great to see everyone. We don't get together often enough!

P.S. I have a special guest post scheduled tomorrow about a few great Etsy shops, so be sure to check it out!

  1. Looks like a great weekend. Poor Gavin does look sick, that little guy never catches a break.

    1. Daycare has him sick on the regular. He just wanted to be held and almost fell asleep in my arms...which of course melted my heart. Dani said she took him back to the doctor today.

    2. poor guy. but hey, sick, cuddly nephews make for good auntie visists
